Touch ‘n Hold Closer Installation Instructions

Before installing the Touch ’n Hold closer check to make sure that the door closes freely.

Your door is equipped with two closer mounting options.

A closer installed at the top of the door using the Heod Jomb Bracket (most common).

A closer installed at the bottom or center (must have 2” wireable push bar upgrade) of the door using the Side Jomb Bracket (optional).

HEAD JAMB BRACKET (most common)

1. On hinge side of door, fasten heodi omb bracket to top Lamb using the (3) 1” long screws. Position the head  amb bracket against sicle amb and 3/8” from face of door as shown.

2. With door closed and the Touch ‘n Hold button facing down, hold end of rod on top of head Lamb bracl‹et anc! insert split connecting pin. Spread split pin end open.

3. Snap the yellow spacer clip on to the rod between the Lamb bracket and the Cylinder. Make sure the Cylinder is closed tight against the yellow spacer clip and bracket, this will ensure proper spacing.

4. Attach door bracket to the closer cylinder front hole with long connecting pin. With door tightly closed, hold closer and door bracket against the door in a level position, mark and drill two 1/8” pilot holes. CAUTION; do not drill througl› tl›e door. Fasten door bracl‹et to door with the (2) 5/8” screws (if installing into Active’s new 2” wireable push bar use the (2) 3/8” screws].

5. Open door and remove the yellow spacer clip. Closer is now ready to operate. See operation and adjusting instructions below.

SIDE JAMB BRACKET (optional)

1. On hinge side of door fasten side )omb bracket to side Lamb using the (d) 1-1/d” long screws. Locate the side Lamb bracket  on the amb leaving a !/a” space between the face of the screen door anc! the side amb bracket. Be sure to face the angled  side of the bracl‹et towards the screen door.

2. With door closed hold end of rod in between each half of side Lamb bracket and insert short grooved pin. Be sure to face the Touch ’n Hold button in the desired direction, up or down depending on location.

3. Snap the yellow spacer clip on to the rod between the Lamb bracket and the cylinder. Make sure the cylinder is closed tight against the yellow spacer clip and bracket, this will ensure proper spacing.

4. Attach door bracket to the closer cylinder front hole with long connecting pin. With door tightly closed, hold closer and door bracket against the door in a level position, mark  and  drill  two  1/8”  pilot  holes.  CAUTION; do not drill tl›rougl›  the door. Fasten door bracket to door with the (2) 5/8“ screws (if installing into Active’s new 2“ wireable push bar use the (2) 3/8” screws).

5. Open door and remove the yellow spacer clip. Closer is now ready to operate. See operation and adjusting instructions below.

OPERATION AND  ADJUSTING INSTRUCTIONS:

– To close: Push the door open slightly ancl release

– To odjust closing speed: Ac!]ust with the regulating screw shown. Caution: Do nof zzse a Rower fool fo install or «diust ffie screw.

– To quickly increase closing force: Move the long connecting pin from the front hole of the cylinder to the second hole.

– To od ust closing force to personal preference: Adjust by moving the door bracket  towards  (less)  or away (more) from the hinge side of the door.
